Initiated by the Lovepink community in collaboration with Bali Pink Ribbon, Reach to Recovery Surabaya and Surabaya Oncology Hospital RSOS, the annual event will be held as part of world breast cancer awareness month. The two-day event is scheduled to feature a survivor gathering event, a charity run and a breast screening program. The survivor gathering event will be held on Oct. 7 and will feature workshops and a dinner. Meanwhile, the charity run, which includes a fun-walk, 5 kilometer, 10 kilometer, and 21 kilometer race, will be held the following day. Kegiatan dalam rangka memperingati breast cancer awareness month yang jatuh setiap bulan Oktober ini awalnya dinamakan Jakarta Goes Pink JGP. Karena besarnya animo masyarakat terhadap JGP, maka tahun 2017 lalu berganti nama menjadi Indonesia Goes Pink IGP dengan melibatkan warriors dan survivors dari seluruh penjuru tanah air untuk ambil bagian dalam rangkaian acara. Setelah tahun lalu IGP untuk pertama kalinya digelar di Bali sebagai bentuk kolaborasi dengan beberapa organisasi sejenis, maka tahun ini IGP akan diselenggarakan oleh Lovepink di Jakarta dan Tangerang - Banten dalam format acara Pink Walk, dan Pink Run. Seluruh rangkaian kegiatan ini adalah bagian dari kampanye deteksi dini dan waspada kanker payudara yang dilakukan sepanjang tahun oleh Lovepink. Indonesia Lovepink sendiri adalah sebuah komunitas berbasis gerakan sosial dengan isu kanker payudara yang fokus pada sosialisasi deteksi dini dan pendampingan pasien. Kanker panyudara inilah yang telah merenggut saudara sepupu saya yang masih muda dan meninggalkan anaknya yang masih kecil. Meskipun menjadi penyebab kematian nomor satu namun sayangnya tidak cukup banyak informasi mengenai penyakit yang mematikan ini untuk diketahui masyarakat luas. Pendiri Love Pink Indonesia, Shanti Persada mengungkapkan perempuan yang tergabung mulai berumur 20 sampai dengan 50 tahun dan 80 persen sudah stadium lanjut. Sudah cukup terlambat memang karena ada yang panyudaranya sudah pecah atau benjolannya besar sekali. Banyaknya teman baru yang berdatangan yang terindikasi kanker panyudara dengan stadium lanjut sehingga tidak sedikit yang pergi karena derita, sesalnya. Hingga kini penyebab kanker panyudara belum diketahui secara pasti. Berdasarkan penelitian, hampir seluruh perempuan berisiko terjangkit penyakit ini bahkan 99 persen perempuan beresiko terkena kanker panyudara karena mempunyai hormon-hormon yang memicu terjadinya kanker. Faktor genetik hanya mempunyai peranan yang kecil kanker panyudara yakni sekitar 5-10 persen saja. Pengaruh gaya hidup yang menjadi penyebab utama. Stres akan pekerjaan atau macetnya jalanan di Ibukota bisa memicu terjadinya kanker panyudara, terang Samantha Barbara, ibunda artis Chelsea Islan. Deteksi Dini Dan Hindari Stres Dr. Siti Sundari Monoppo seorang onkolog menyerukan pentingnya deteksi dini kanker panyudara khususnya bagi kaum perempuan. Penyakit ini akan lebih mudah ditangani bila ada deteksi dini sehingga pasien terhindar dari ancaman kematian. Cara mendeteksinya yakni dengan cara periksa panyudara sendiri SADARI, hal ini untuk mengecek ada tidaknya benjolan di bagian panyudara. Tips ini disarankan bahkan sejak 7-10 hari sejak menstruasi hari pertama secara rutin. Janganlah panik ketika menemukan benjolan pertama dan lekas pergi ke dokter yang tepat untuk memastikan apakah benjolan itu ganas atau jinak, saran Dr. Siti ketika menghadiri kampanye melawan kanker panyudara Indonesia Goes Pink 2017 di Jakarta baru-baru ini. Kuncinya untuk mencegah timbulnya kanker panyudara adalah menjaga pikiran agar tidak mudah terserang stres. Stres dapat meningkatkan resiko kanker panyudara pada perempuan. Dengan menjalankan gaya hidup sehat sepertimakan makanan sehat, olahraga serta istrihat dan tidur yang cukup dan juga menjaga kesehatan rohani untuk menjaga keseimbangan hidup. Jadi sebenarnya sederhana saja, yang penting menjaga daya tahan tubuh, istirahat yang cukup dan tidak boleh stres, olahraga, bergaul dan tertawa hahaha serta berdoa dan bersyukur. Faktor lain untuk menjaga kesehatan adalah selalu berpikir positif. Until recently, major studies regarding breast cancer amongst women was limited to the developed countries. However, recent past studies have indicated breast cancer as one of the most common type of cancer in the female population in Asia-Pacific, particularly Indonesia accounting for almost 18% of the cancer diagnoses. Based on the International Agency for Research on Cancer IARC, cancer incidence in Indonesian women counted 134 cases per 100,000 population, where breast cancer became the highest incidence of 40 cases per 100,000 population and mortality rate for breeder in Indonesia was death per 100,000 population. The latest WHO data indicates that breast cancer deaths in Indonesia alone account for of all deaths in the country. Magnitude of breast cancer problems in Indonesia can be seen from breast cancer patients who come for treatment, where up to 60% of patients are already in an advanced stage. Another surprising statistic is the prevalence of breast cancer among Indonesian women under the age of in 2009 by a British survivor, Gaye Warren, Bali Pink Ribbon has been actively promoting the vision to prevent Indonesian women from dying of breast cancer. Their main focus is to improve the quality of life and educate women regarding the preventive measures for this disease. Mass media programmes, seminars, and outreach programmes are conducted not only in Bali but across the country to support and empower women along with their families to fight the menace of breast cancer. Another important objective of Bali Pink Ribbon is to reach out to remote parts of the island to provide medical help to the Dian Ekawati, the Chairman of Bali Pink Ribbon, explained that the incidence and death rate of breast cancer should be suppressed because breast cancer can be detected early. Until now, the cases found in hospitals mostly come with advanced breast cancer and a small amount comes with an early stage. Public awareness to conduct early detection is still lacking. Efforts going into the importance of early detection of breast cancer has been done by Bali Pink Ribbon in partnership with Prima Medika Hospital. Counselling about breast cancer and early detection followed by clinical breast examination and breast ultrasound for early detection have been done to various regions and community groups in Bali. Hopefully, the wider the reach in terms of knowledge and early detection, the higher the number of breast cancer cases funds through donations and other charitable events received by Bali Pink Ribbon are used to spread awareness and help educate Indonesian women, especially those with breast cancer. Events such as Pink Health Day, Breast Cancer Seminar, and focussed groups are conducted regularly by Bali Pink Ribbon to achieve its objective. International visitors who are affected by breast cancer also visit these focus groups to share their knowledge and experience to Indonesian women to fight this disease.
